Our Process
The Side-by-Side Method.
Disciplined by process. Flexible by design.
Named after the Tigris and Euphrates, two rivers running side by side; our method keeps Twin River and client moving forward together, at every step, toward the same destination.
All 7 steps. Always.
Every engagement completes all seven steps of the Side-by-Side Method, but not always from the beginning, and not always in a straight line. The method is the constant. The entry point is flexible.
We meet you where you are.
Already have a design? We start at Architecture. Have code that needs rescuing? We come in at QA and work backwards through the steps as needed. You don't have to start from scratch; you just have to start.
Phased. Manageable. Yours.
We break every engagement into manageable phases, giving you visibility, control, and breathing room at every stage. You know what's coming, what it costs, and what you'll have at the end of each phase before we begin it.
Scoped before we start.
Timeline and cost are defined before a single line of code is written. We scope every engagement so you know exactly what you're committing to. No guesses. No surprises. That's the captain's chair: yours.
Our agile approach
Structured flexibility.
The Side-by-Side Method is built on an agile foundation: iterative, collaborative, and designed to surface and resolve issues early rather than late. Work moves in focused cycles. Each phase is reviewed before the next begins.
But agile doesn't mean unstructured. Our process is disciplined at every step, with a rigorous code review protocol conducted by senior architects and development leads, not generic developer resources. And we use AI-assisted test driven development (TDD) throughout the build phase to validate quality before it reaches you.
The result: a process flexible enough to meet you where you are, and disciplined enough to deliver what you need.
AI-assisted TDD
Test driven development with AI-powered validation, catching issues before they reach you.
Senior-led code review
Every delivery reviewed by senior architects and development leads, not generic developer resources.
Iterative cycles
Work moves in focused sprints with client touchpoints built in, so nothing drifts and nothing surprises.
The seven steps
Two rivers. One direction. Forward.
Each step shows what Twin River is doing alongside what we need from you. The lines run parallel, side by side, because that's how we work. Together, not in sequence.
Discovery
We conduct a thorough analysis of your business needs, existing systems, and technical landscape. We document requirements, define the MVP, and build the foundation that every decision will rest on.
- Requirements documentation
- System analysis & gap assessment
- Initial project scope
Your role
Share your vision, your constraints, and your existing documentation. The more context you bring, the faster and more accurate our discovery. We'll guide the conversation; you don't need to come prepared with a spec.
Design & Prototype
We walk through the design and flow of the solution before we write a single line of code. UX wireframes, UI designs, and where applicable a working prototype, so you can see and feel what you're getting before we build it.
- UX wireframes & user flows
- UI design (look & feel)
- Prototype (where applicable)
Your role
Review the designs and give honest feedback. This is your best opportunity to shape what gets built; changes at this stage cost time, not code. We iterate here until the design matches your vision.
Client Approval
Nothing moves to build until you've signed off. This is a formal checkpoint, not a formality. We present the completed design, walk you through every decision, and answer every question before development begins.
- Design sign-off
- Scope confirmation
- Development authorization
Your role
Review, ask questions, and approve. You are always in the captain's chair at this step; we don't move forward without your explicit go-ahead. If something isn't right, we go back to Design. No pressure, no shortcuts.
Architecture Design
With approval secured, we design the technical foundation: data models, system architecture, infrastructure, and integration points. This is the blueprint that guides every development decision and prevents costly rework later.
- High-level architecture design
- Data model & system design
- Technical stack confirmation
Your role
Lighter involvement here; this is primarily a Twin River heads-down phase. We'll surface key decisions that affect your business or infrastructure for your input, but we handle the technical heavy lifting.
Development
We build in focused, iterative cycles. Regular demos keep you in the loop at each milestone. Code is reviewed by senior architects and development leads at every stage, not released until it meets our standards. AI-assisted TDD runs throughout to validate quality continuously.
- Iterative sprint-based delivery
- Regular milestone demos
- Senior-led code review
- AI-assisted test driven development
Your role
Attend milestone demos, review progress, and provide timely feedback. The faster you respond at demo checkpoints, the faster we move. Your availability during this phase directly affects delivery velocity.
QA & Testing
Comprehensive quality assurance: functional testing, integration testing, performance testing, and user acceptance testing. We don't just test what should work. We test what shouldn't, too. Issues found here cycle back to Development until resolved.
- Functional & integration testing
- Performance & security testing
- User acceptance testing (UAT)
Your role
Participate in user acceptance testing, putting the product through its paces in real-world scenarios. Your team knows your use cases better than anyone. UAT feedback is gold, and we take it seriously.
Final Sign-off
The finish line. Every deliverable reviewed against the original scope, every requirement verified, every issue resolved. We don't call something done until you do. Launch only happens when the product is genuinely ready, not when the calendar says so.
- Final deliverable review
- Scope verification
- Launch readiness confirmation
Your role
Review the final product against everything you set out to build. This is your moment; the gap between conception and reality closes here. When you sign off, you're not just approving a product. You're confirming we delivered on our promise.
Meet you where you are
The method is the constant.
The entry point is flexible.
The Side-by-Side Method has seven steps. Every engagement completes all of them, but not always from the beginning, and not always in a straight line.
If you already have a design, we start at Architecture. If you have code that needs rescuing, we come in at QA and work backwards. If you have a half-finished spec, we pick up at Discovery and fill the gaps. We assess where you are and find the right entry point; then we move forward together.
What never changes: the discipline, the transparency, and the standard. Every step gets completed. Every deliverable gets reviewed. Nothing ships until it's ready.
